Message

Also today, I paint as proof that I lived another day.
Even on days when I feel restless or lacking energy,
painting helps me to clarify my core and feel grounded.
For me, painting is similar to writing a diary.

Yoko Matsumoto

About her work

When she frames a scene of an ordinary room - with flowers, birdcages, vases, chairs, and tables, etc.- arranged in a retro style, the room where the frame is displayed also becomes part of the picture.

Her work possesses this kind of mysterious/unusual charm.

Beloved by many fans, her paintings and prints have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions at galleries and department stores in Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and Tokyo since her first solo exhibition in 1983.
She also works extensively on book cover illustrations, magazine illustrations, and corporate calendars.
