About the Exhibition
Purpose
Krydsfelt is a Japanese–Danish art exhibition marking the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Denmark. The project aims to further promote cultural exchange between the two countries by bringing together diverse artistic expressions and inviting audiences in Denmark to discover both their similarities and differences.
Japan and Denmark have shared a long-standing and friendly relationship since 1867.
Japanese art and design have influenced Danish artistic and design practices, while the two countries have continued to inspire one another through mutual curiosity, respect and admiration. Krydsfelt seeks to contribute to this tradition of open cultural dialogue through contemporary artistic expression.
Concept
The Danish word Krydsfelt refers to a place or field where different elements intersect. The title represents a meeting point where the cultures, values, sensibilities, and artistic expressions of Japan and Denmark encounter one another while retaining their individual identities.
The exhibition is not intended simply as a presentation of artworks from two countries. By bringing different perspectives and interpretations into the same space, Krydsfelt seeks to create opportunities for dialogue, discovery and new ways of seeing.
We hope the exhibition will become a new Krydsfelt - a place where Japan and Denmark meet, connect and inspire one another.
Expected Impact
Through the diversity of artistic expressions presented in the exhibition, we hope to stimulate curiosity and imagination, encouraging visitors to make new discoveries and reflect on their own creative, professional and social lives.
Workshops and other events will also provide opportunities for people of different ages to experience aspects of Japanese culture directly. Through these encounters, we hope to foster greater understanding between Japan and Denmark and contribute to the diversity of cultural and artistic expression.
